Report: Italian govt wants businesses to cancel meeting with Putin
MOSCOW, Jan 26 (PRIME) -- The Italian government suggested that the Italian–Russian Chamber of Commerce cancel Wednesday’s meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the top managers of leading Italian companies, or that the heads of parastatal firms do not participate, Italian daily la Repubblica reported quoting government sources.
As a result, oil and gas company Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi and energy infrastructure company CEO Snam Marco Alvera will not come to the meeting, la Repubblica reported.
Besides, Foreign Ministry sources told the daily that Italian ambassador to Russia Giorgio Starace would also skip the meeting.
The list of companies to be represented at the meeting includes Pirelli, Enel, and Generali, the daily reported.
